Survey: The most expensive beach destinations in California
August 2nd, 2016Pacific Beach, one of San Diego’s busiest beach areas, is California’s most expensive beach destination this summer. LosAngelesHotels.org recently conducted a survey that compared all beach towns in the Golden State. The cost of lodging during the month of August served as the basis of comparison and resulted in Pacific Beach taking the top spot.
To lodge in Pacific Beach this summer, an overnight guest can expect to pay an average of $267 nightly. That rate represents the price tag for the most affordable double room this August. LosAngelesHotels.org stresses that the survey excluded hotels or inns rated less than 3 stars and those lacking a prime location close to the beach.
Weighing in at just two dollars less expensive per night in the number two spot is Marina del Rey. This seaside community with its sprawling boat-friendly Marina is a popular LA-area tourist destination. It generated $294 million in direct visitor spending in 2015. Its neighbor, Santa Monica, comes in at number 3 on the survey with an average overnight cost of $259.
